RCOM looking out for 3G alliance
Reliance Communications is these days contemplating on the ides of roping in strategic partners for its 3G mobile business. The telecom major is looking for an alliance for its infrastructure and technology innovation unit and is currently in talks with global players like Motorola and HP.
However reportedly it is believed that the company is also considering other biggies like Intel and Sony also for the same.
The telecom arm of Anil Ambani group is eyeing possible partners for its 3G Innovation Lab. The aim of setting this lab is to nurture it as an end-to-end wireless network infrastructure and new technology provider for high-speed 3G mobile services.
This step by the company is part of the company's bigger plan of a\raising funds in order to expand its footprints in the 3G space. As the company shelved out more than Rs 8,500 crore for bagging the spectrum that allows the transmission of 3G mobile services.
This becomes all the more a business opportunity as the, industry analysts have estimated that the company would be needing an hefty amount of more than Rs 5,000 in order to roll out the 3G services.
The company is chalking out plans to launch its 3G services by the end of this year and is also in discussions with companies like Red Hat, SNAPin Software, weComm, Rubberduck Media Lab and Skyfire Labs.
