The attack late Monday against Camp Salerno, a US military base in Khost province, came hours after a suicide bomber detonated his explosive-filled vehicle outside the same base, killing 10 civilians and wounding 13.

Taliban threaten more attacks on Canadian troops in Afghanistan

Kandahar/ Ottawa, Aug 18 : The Taliban have threatened Canada that it will launch attacks like last week if the Canadian troops didn’t pull out of Afghanistan. Several Canadian aid workers were gunned down near Kabul last week by unidentified militants.

In an letter written to the Canada Government, the Taliban warned that if its troops continued to stay in Afghanistan, they would kill them.

US claims more than three dozen Taliban killed in Afghan combat

AfgahnistanKabul - The US military claimed Saturday to have killed more than three dozen Taliban militants in southern Afghanistan, and an unspecified number of others in the north-eastern region.

A military statement said joint Afghan and coalition forces were attacked by groups of Taliban militants in the southern region.

The combined forces responded by small-arms' fire and close air support and killed "more than three dozen militants over two days of fierce fighting," the statement said, but did not give any specific details of casualties.
