Sushma-SwarajBhopal, May 16 : BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, set to win from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, Friday attributed the thumping victory of the party in the Lok Sabha election to the hard work of the millions of BJP workers and the "able leadership of Narendra Modi".

Sushma Swaraj, who is said to be no Modi camp follower, in a tweet said: "This victory is the result of hard labour of millions of BJP 'karyakartas', blessings of (Rashtriya Swayamsewak) Sangh and able leadership of Narendra Modi."

"We receive this mandate of people of India with humility and gratitude," Sushma posted.


Shivraj Singh Chouhan to take oath as Madhya Pradesh CM today

Shivraj Singh ChouhanBhopal, Dec. 14,  : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday will take oath as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for the third consecutive time.

The swearing in ceremony will be held at Jambooree Maidan around noon here.

The ceremony will be attended by several senior BJP leaders including party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, and, party patriarch L. K. Advani.

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will also attend the ceremony along with newly elected Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh.


Rahul, Modi to address rallies in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh today

Rahul GandhiBhopal, Nov 20  : Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be in poll-bound Chhattisgarh today to address separate rallies.

According to reports, Gandhi will attend election meetings in Kukshi and Sidhi, while the Gujarat Chief Minister will address election rallies in Satna, Shahdol, Singrauli and Jabalpur.

Earlier, addressing a rally in Chhatarpur, Modi claimed that the UPA-led central government and the Congress Party was finding it difficult to digest the progress being made in BJP-ruled states of the country.

Vijayvargiya had said:"One has to abide by certain moral limits. If you cross this limit, you will be punished, just like Sita was abducted by Ravana.

But with the BJP central leadership rejecting his opinion, Vijayvargiya had to withdraw the comment.

Vijayvargiya said that he had not intended to cause offense. (ANI)

The protesters lashed out at Chief Minster Shivraj Singh Chouhan, saying crimes against women had increased because of poor governance in the state.

Protesters took to streets, scuffling with police who later baton charged them.

Bhopal, Feb 12 - "My Name is Khan" was released all over Madhya Pradesh Friday, amidst minor protests by Shiv Sainiks. The movie drew a huge crowd with the first show going house full at many theatres across the state.

The Shiv Sena is opposing the film's release after Shah Rukh Khan refused to apologise for saying that Pakistani cricketers should have been included in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches.

About 15-20 Shiv Sena activists held a demonstration at Jyoti Talkies here but their attempt to disrupt the show remained futile as many policemen had been deployed at all the three theatres where the movie has been released.

Ujjain official found to possess Rs.2 crore assets Bhopal, Jan 11 : Unaccounted assets worth over Rs. 2 crore have been found during search operations conducted at the houses of Ujjain Additional Collector Prahlad Amarchiva in Madhya Pradesh, an official said Monday.

"A Lokayukta (ombudsman) squad raided the house and other premises of Additional Collector Prahlad Amarchiva in Ujjain Sunday and unearthed cash, jewellery and properties worth over Rs. 2 crore," said Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) Avinash Sharma.

Amarchiva is posted as protocol officer in Ujjain district.

Bhopal, Jan 11- A hunt has been launched for Asha Rani, a legislator of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Bijawar in Madhya Pradesh, who has been booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of her domestic help in 2007.

Police officials said Monday they are also looking for six other suspects.

A case has also been registered against Asha Rani and her husband Ashok Vir Vikram Singh alias Bhaiya Raja, a former legislator, on the charge of abducting the maidservant, keeping her as a bonded labourer and sexually abusing her.

He is already in judicial custody for allegedly murdering his 21-year-old grand-niece Vasundhara Bundela, alias Nishi, whose bullet-riddled body was found in the city's Misrod area Dec 11 last year.

BJP legislator, husband booked for maid's death in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Jan 10 - Asha Rani, a legislator of the ruling-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh, has been booked for abetting the suicide of her domestic help in 2007, while a case has also been registered against her husband Ashok Vir Vikram Singh for abduction and rape of the maid, police said Sunday.

"The fresh FIR (first information report) was registered in connection with the suicide of their domestic help. The victim, Tijji Bai, who had sustained serious burn injuries was found dead at the Bhopal residence of the leader in November 2007," a senior police officer told IANS.
