Shop staff looted of Rs.18 lakh in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Jan 11 : Two employees of an apparel store in a Sahibabad mall in Ghaziabad district were robbed of Rs. 18 lakh by a group of robbers who threw chilli powder in their eyes, police said Monday.
According to police, Kuldeep Sharma, an assistant manager with Chunmun Stores inside Pacific Mall, and his colleague Rajeev Sharma were going a motorcycle to deposit the store's cash, amounting to Rs. 18 lakh in Punjab National Bank branch at Kaushambi near the Anand Vihar border with Delhi.
Woman kills husband in Ghaziabad

The incident occurred around midnight in Bagu Krishna Nagar locality in the city, adjacent to the national capital.
According to police, 30-year-old Rinki stabbed her husband Mahendra when he reached the house in an inebriated state. Angered by his daily drinking habit, she took a scissor and stabbed Mahendra thrice in his abdomen.
Mahendra, 31, succumbed to his injuries in the district hospital.
"We have arrested the wife and the scissor has been seized," said circle officer R. K. Gautam. (IANS)
Two carpenters found suffocated to death

The deaths were discovered when the site manager Deepak Kumar Raghav, not finding them on duty, went to their room in the building Saturday morning. When they did not open the door even after several knocks, he forced open the door and found the carpenters lying in their bed covered with blankets. Thinking that they were sleeping, he pulled off the blankets and found them dead, police said.
Guard killed resisting robbery in Ghaziabad factory

Ghaziabad, Jan 7 : A guard was stabbed to death when he tried to resist a robbery in a factory in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad early Thursday, police said.
According to police, the armed robbers barged into Vadhera & Co factory, at plot number A-4 in the Loni Road Industrial Area of Sahibabad, early Thursday and stabbed guard Chhidda Pal, 58, to death when he refused to hand over keys of the cupboards and tried to resist the robbery.
Policeman commits suicide in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Jan 5 : A policeman Tuesday committed suicide by shooting himself in a police line here, authorities said.
Jitesh Kumar, 38, shot himself with his service revolver in police line under Kavi Nagar police station here. Kumar was in-charge of police armoury.
"Kumar's colleagues rushed to the armoury after hearing the firing and found Kumar lying in the pool of blood. He was rushed to Yashoda Hospital here, where doctors declared him dead," a police officer said.(IANS)
Court allows Narco test on Aarushi''s parents

Ghaziabad, Jan 5 : A Ghaziabad court on Tuesday gave permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct narco tests on Aarushi''s parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar.
However, date of narco test is not finalised.
The Aarushi murder case, which rocked the country a year and a half ago, returned to the spotlight on Monday, with the CBI seeking permission from the court.
The court heard the CBI''s application, which said its probe team found fresh clues, requiring the Talwars to undergo narco tests.
Company cashier looted of Rs.230,000 at gunpoint

Ghaziabad, Jan 4 : Two motorcycle-borne men looted the cashier of an edible oil trading firm of Rs. 230,000 at gunpoint in Hapur town of Ghaziabad district Monday, police said.
Sunil, a cashier with Shivam Traders, was taking the cash to a bank in Raghvir Nagar area of the city when the two motorcycle riding men stopped him at gunpoint. They snatched the bag containing the cash, hit Sunil on the head with a pistol butt when he tried to resist, and fled.
Local residents took Sunil to a local nursing home where he was discharged after first aid.
Court reserves order on narco test on Aarushi's parents

Ghaziabad, Jan 4 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here Monday reserved its order on granting permission for a narco test on Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, the parents of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar who was found murdered in their Noida house on May 16, 2008.

Ghaziabad, Jan 2 : The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) Saturday opened the much awaited Rajapur-Diamond Palace Railway Over Bridge (ROB) that is expected to provide relief to motorists entering the city.
The bridge has been constructed on the New Delhi-Lucknow railway line and connects prominent colonies of Ghaziabad with Delhi and Noida.

Ghaziabad, Jan 1 : A branch of a nationalised bank in Hapur town of Ghaziabad district was burnt down in a major fire, police said Friday.
The blaze in the branch of Vijaya Bank on the National Highway-24 under Hapur Kotwali police station was noticed by morning walkers, who informed the police.
Although the fire brigade were promptly dispatched to the scene, the entire building had already been gutted by the time they arrived.
Businessman shot dead in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Dec 30 : A businessman was shot dead and his driver critically injured Wednesday when another trader and his son fired at them in Ghaziabad, police said.
The incident occurred Wednesday evening in the Patel Nagar locality of Ghaziabad.
Hazi Guddu was shot dead, allegedly by Kom Pal Singh and his son Monu over a monetary dispute.
While Guddu died on the spot, his driver Munaf suffered two bullet injuries and was taken to the hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
Photojournalist run over by train

Aman Kashyap, a resident of Vasundhara, was killed near Anand Vihar railway station.
"He was there to take photos of fog delaying trains in the winter season," said Ashok Sharma, a Ghaziabad based photojournalist.
Additional Superintendent of Police Happy Guptan said: "His mobile phone was found at the spot but the camera is missing." (IANS)
Worker dies in Ghaziabad factory blast

Ghaziabad, Dec 22 : A worker was Tuesday blown to death and four sustained critical injuries in an explosion at a Ghaziabad factory, police said.
The workers were doing welding work on a tanker in the Rawal Rubber Industries in the Bulandshahr Road industrial area of this suburban town of Delhi.
A side portion of the tanker blew in the air due to the explosion. The flat iron plate of the tanker hit technician Sheetal Kumar.
Kumar was blown into the air and landed about 10 feet away from the site. He died on the spot.
Home ministry employee's house looted in Loni

Ghaziabad, Dec 21 : About half a dozen armed robbers looted cash and jewellery worth over Rs. five lakh from the house of a home ministry employee in Loni town of Ghaziabad district Monday morning, police said. Four members of the family were injured when they tried to resist the robbers.
According to police, about half a dozen robbers armed with pistols, knives and iron rods broke open the grill of the bedroom window of the house in B-69 Lalbagh colony of the town.
Rs.10 lakh stolen from a car in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Dec 21 : A bag containing Rs. 10 lakh was allegedly stolen from a car in Ghaziabad, police said Monday.
According to police, Deepak Tyagi, a resident of Makanpur locality, withdrew Rs. 15 lakh from Indirapuram branch of the Punjab National Bank. He also had Rs. 11 lakh in cash in another bag.
Tyagi then went to a relative's home in the same locality and parked his car in front of the house. According to Tyagi, he went inside the house with the bag containing Rs. 11 lakh and kept the one with Rs. 15 lakh in the car.
Dental student attempts suicide in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Dec 16 : An 18-year-old girl student of a dental college in Ghaziabad attempted suicide by hanging herself allegedly because of her poor academic performance, family said.
Shivani Sharma, a first year Bachelor of Dental Studies student of ITS Dental College in Murad Nagar, attempted to take her own life in her hostel room 5.30 p. m. Tuesday.
Shivani is now struggling for life at Sarvodaya Hospital in Kavi Nagar and is on life-support system.

Ghaziabad, Dec 15 : Three people were arrested in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram area Tuesday for allegedly running a massive betting racket on cricket matches.
The three were identified as Sandeep Gupta, 25, Nikhil Singhal, 26, and Satish Sharma, 25. They were gambling over the India-Sri Lanka One-Day International match played in Rajkot Tuesday.
"We received information that some persons were gambling with a huge sum in an apartment (E-1001) at Jaipuria Sunrise Greens in Indirapuram. We immediately raided the spot," Indirapuram police station inspector Rajesh Dwivedi said.
Over 700 rare parrots seized in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Dec 10 : Police in Ghaziabad rescued over 700 endangered species of parrots from a smuggler, who was taking them to Delhi to sell.
According to police, police stopped a Rajasthan Roadways bus near the Uttar Pradesh Gate Wednesday night and seized the 700 parrots. The smuggler, Raj Kishore was arrested.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Kumar, Raj Kishore had bought the birds from Moradabad and was taking them to the Jama Masjid market in Delhi for sale. The rescued parrots included rare species.
