Hamburg - Defending Champions League title holders Manchester United on Tuesday disappointed as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Porto in a first leg quarter-final match played in Manchester.
The other quarter-final played on the night saw Arsenal draw 1-1 at Villarreal.
In Manchester Porto had the ideal start when Cristian Rodriguez made the most of poor defending just four minutes into the game and beat Edwin Van der Sar with a well taken shot from 13 metres.
Hamburg - A decision by Germany's umbrella sports organization and Olympic Committee DOSB to allow five former East German athletics coaches to continue on their jobs despite doping confessions drew harsh reactions from victims and others on Tuesday.
The five coaches - Klaus Baarck, Gerhard Boettcher, Rainer Pottel, Maria Ritschel and Klaus Schneider - on Monday admitted in a statement issued by the DOSB to their involvement in the state-run doping system of the former communist state.
Hamburg - Former Ireland manager Brian Kerr on Monday signed a two-and-a-half-year contract as Faroe Islands national team coach, the Faroe football federation said in a statement.
Kerr, 56, will be in charge until the end of the qualifying campaign for Euro 2012.
He will take charge of the North Atlantic islands team immediately, his first match coming in June against Serbia in World Cup 2010 qualifying. The Faroes lie bottom of Group 7 with just one points while Serbia top the standings.
Hamburg - VfL Wolfsburg are trying hard to keep their feet on the ground after a 5-1 demolition of holders Bayern Munich made them new Bundesliga leaders and top title favourites.
"They played like champions," said German football federation sports director Matthias Sammer on Premiere pay-TV after the final whistle on Saturday.
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung paper agreed on Sunday, saying: "The title would no longer be a miracle."
