Karnataka CM Announces Opening Of Two Cardiology Centres At Mysore, Hubli
Submitted by Piyush Diwan on Sun, 05/24/2009 - 18:50.Mr. B S Yeddyurappa, Karnataka chief minister, has made announcement about the opening of two new branches of the medical centre at Mysore and Hubli for the benefit of heart patients.
The minister announced this during the annual governing council meeting of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology on Friday.
The minister said that the cardiac institute will be established within Mysore Medical College campus covering around 10,000 sq ft area.
The Mysore branch having 60-bed facility would start functioning by September this year (2009).

India must have a law against terrorism: Modi

Hubli (Karnataka), May 20 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Central Government should not hesitate in introducing a law against terrorism, if it actually wants to fight it.
Modi said the country needs a stringent law if it is to fight against terrorism at all.
Speaking to reporters here on the sidelines of a campaign for the BJP ahead of the third phase of Assembly elections on May 22, Modi said: "All countries across the world have made strong laws to fight terrorism. Even a country like Nepal has a law against terrorism. But India is the only country which has dissolved the only strong law
Hubli gears up for elections in poll-bound Karnataka

Hubli (Karnataka), May 20 : Electioneering in Hubli constituency has peaked for the third and final phase of polling for the 224-seat Karnataka State Assembly.
Hubli-Dharwad Central, the new assembly constituency lies to the north Karnataka after the recent delimitation, and has emerged as the battleground for the upper caste Lingayats.
The third phase of polling will take place on May 22, and this constituency will witness a triangular contest between the Congress, the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular).
Terrorism an issue in Karnataka elections

Hubli, May 17 : Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning V Narayanasamy today suggested that some political parties’ might be involved in the Hubli court bomb blast, which had the objective of getting political mileage during the Karnataka elections.
“We want to know who is behind the blast. As we have no faith in the police, we want an impartial judicial inquiry into the case,” he said while speaking to reporters here.
Narayanasamy further added that the Congress is in full support of the implementation of the Supreme Court order in Afzal Guru’s case, the main convict in the Parliament attack case.
Blast in Hubli District Court, no casualties

Hubli (Karnataka), May 10 : A blast went off at the district court here on Saturday afternoon, causing extensive damage to the premises.
Police said there were no casualties, and added that the Intelligence Bureau is yet to ascertain whether the blast was an act of terror or an election gimmick.
Officials said some political party might have been behind the blast to divert the attention of the police, who have been coming down hard on party workers for distributing freebees and goodies in violation of the model code of conduct laid down by the Election Commission.
