Indian stocks climb more than 4 per centNew Delhi - Indian equities climbed over 4 per cent in morning trade on Friday, recovering some losses from trading sessions in the last few days.

The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange, which has fallen more than 2,000 points over the last seven trading sessions, gained 358.43 points to 8,810 levels, up 4.24 per cent at 11:50 am (0620 GMT).

All sectoral indices on the barometer index recorded gains. Similarly, the broader 50-share Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange rose by 105.75 points to 2,658.90, or an increase of 4.14 per cent.

Legendary actor MN Nambiar passes away

Born on March 17, 1919 in Kannur, Kerala, he entered the stage at the age of 13. His first film, 'Bhakta Ramadoss', where he played a villain was shot in 1935 in Hindi and Tamil. Until his last film 'Sudeshi' in 2006, Nambiar was an actor you could never miss!

India's Sensex plunges nearly 5 per centNew Delhi - India's benchmark Sensex fell by 4.84 per cent in early trade on Thursday, extending its losses for the seventh straight session on heavy selling by funds and investors tracking weak global cues.

The 30-share-sensitive index of the Bombay Stock Exchange which has lost over 1,750 points over the last six sessions, fell by another 424.56 points to 8,349.22 after 90 minutes of trading up to 11:40 am (0610GMT).

Sixteen Maoist rebels arrested in Jharkhand

Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), Nov 20: At least 16 Maoist rebels have been arrested from Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand on Wednesday.

According to Police, the rebels of the self-styled ''Armed People''s Military (APM)'' group surrendered after the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and local police raided their jungle hideout falling under the Chauparan police station following a tip off.

"We nabbed them in an encounter following a tip off. The way we surrounded them, they had no option but to surrender. We also recovered arms and ammunitions from them," said Praveen Singh, Superintendent of Police, Hazaribagh.
