Explosives found near Manipur police headquartersImphal, April 13: Two improvised explosive devices were recently found near Indira Park opposite to the Imphal west district police headquarters.

Just a day after bomb squad disposed off the devices yet another IED with a cell phones attached to it as remote control was found at Kangla Park.

A team of the State police bomb disposal squad defused and got rid of the bomb and averted a major tragedy.

KCP (MC) Lanheiba, a militant outfit, has claimed responsibility for planting the IEDs.

They have set up training camps in the forests, skirting border areas of Orissa and Chhattisgarh.

At these training camps, the Naxals have horses, which can be used to commute through forests and mountainous areas. Special educational classes are being organised for the cadres and arrangements for their entertainment have also been made.

Bihar administration to provide security to fear gripped voters

BiharJahanabad (Bihar), Apr 13: To persuade villagers of Jahanabad District, who till now were staying away from voting due to fear of local goons, the Bihar authorities are making special arrangements to provide adequate security.

The state authorities claim that they have paid notice to the complaints of the residents of Vishunpur and Kishunpur villages, and are doing their level best to make available safe polling booths to the villagers.

The villagers had complained that some local goons, hired for vested interests, were stopping them from casting votes.

Pranab Mukherjee files nomination papers from JangipurBehrampore (West Bengal), Apr 13: Union External Affairs Minister and senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee on Monday filed his nomination papers from West Bengal's Jangipur parliamentary constituency.

Mukherjee, who won his first Lok Sabha election from Jangipur in 2004, filed his nomination papers to Murshidabad District Magistrate at 1.30 p. m.

The 74-year-old leader defeated Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPM) leader and three-time MP Abul Hasnat Khan by over 36,860 votes.

Addressing a press conference in Kochi, Gandhi expressed his firm belief on the power of youth in politics.

"The difference between a young person and an old person is that a young person looks towards the future, okay! An old person looks in the past," said Gandhi.

Speaking to reporters, Gandhi admitted that the lack of youth participation in politics was due to the absence of an appropriate system in the country.

Central Government reviews security at Orissa’s NALCO minesNew Delhi, Apr 13: The Ministry of Mines on Monday conducted a detailed review of security arrangements at the National Aluminium Company Limited's (NALCO) Damanjodi Mines following Naxal attack.

An urgent meeting of officials of the Mines and Home Ministries and NALCO, besides Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) representatives was held here.

It was decided to implement both immediate and long-term security measures for PSUs. Follow up meetings are also taking place at the State Government level.
