Prachanda says Govt will give justice to conflict victimsKathmandu, Feb 25: Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda has said the government is committed to extend justice to victims of the decade long conflict.

Inaugurating the First South Asian Conference on International Humanitarian Law organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) here on Tuesday, Prachanda said the government is making deliberate efforts to form the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and investigate human rights violations and disappearances during the conflict.

Culling of birds begin in Nepal

Nepal, KathmanduKathmandu, Feb 23 : Nepal Government has started culling of poultry and poultry products in the bird flu affected of area of Sharanamati in Jhapa district.

According to Nepalnews, five Rapid Response Teams (RRT) led by the Director of Livestock Services started culling the birds in the area.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has deployed 50 technicians to the affected area to control the deadly H5N1 virus.

Two RRTs have started culling chickens from the Indian border.

Nepal reports second outbreak of bird flu in chickens Kathmandu  - Nepalese authorities Saturday confirmed the second outbreak of bird flu in the eastern part of the country.

The new cases of the deadly strain of H5N1 virus were discovered after 149 chickens died at a poultry farm in Saranamati village of Jhapa district, about 450 kilometres east of Kathmandu, government officials said.

Officials sent samples of the dead fowl to England for tests.

Menon, Prachanda discuss Indo-Nepal agreement

Shiv Shanker MenonKathmandu, Feb 17 : Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon today met Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda and discussed the progress made on agreements signed during Prachanda's last visit to India.

Kantipur quoted Foreign Affairs Advisor Hira Bahadur Thapa as saying that Prachanda also inquired about the Noumure Hydropower project to be constructed by India.

In response, Menon said the construction of the dam is underway.
