Britain to subsidize electric car purchases London - The British government said Thursday it will offer cash incentives to motorists who buy electric cars.

Under measures due to come into force in 2011 drivers will receive a subsidy of between 2,000 to 5,000 pounds (7,500 dollars) if they switch to electric vehicles.

The green scheme, expected to cost 250 million pounds, is designed to help the environment and inject life into Britain's struggling car industry.

Electric cars will soon be a "real option" for motorists, Transport Minister Geoff Hoon said in announcing the plans.

London, April 16: Dan Aykroyd has reportedly vowed to make Sigourney Weaver join the cast reunion for the new Ghostbusters movie, which is slated for a 2011 release.

While other original castmembers from the cult 1980s films including Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson have all reportedly signed up for the sequel, it is believed that Weaver - who starred in the first two films - would be unwilling to reprise her role as Dana Barrett.

However, Aykroyd, who co-wrote and starred in the originals, is sure he will be able to convince Weaver to star in the highly-anticipated third installment.
