Lucknow, Sept 7 : Devout Muslims living in relief camps in flood-hit Lucknow on sunday said they are unable to observe Ramadan, as there is not even a proper place to pray.
Floods have dampened the spirits of Muslims during the holy month of ''Ramadan'' in Lucknow city.
Ramadan is the holiest month of the religious calendar. Muslims must abstain from eatables and drinks from dawn to dusk, a discipline believed to better their souls.
Lucknow, Aug 23 (ANI): People in Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh are reeling under the fury of floods caused by the monsoon downpour.
Relentless rain has submerged almost all the low-lying areas of Lucknow.
The Gomti river, which bifurcates the city, is on a spate and water and has crossed the danger mark.
The residents of the area say that they have not witnessed such a huge amount of rainfall before. They are complaining that the authorities are not paying adequate attention to their plight.
Lucknow, Aug 14: Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested an agent of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and recovered sensitive documents related to an India's ordnance factory and other defence establishments.
Brij Lal, additional director general of police (law and order), said that they had proof that the arrested person belonged to Pakistan.
"The Anti Terrorist Squad of Uttar Pradesh has arrested one ISI agent of Pakistan from Rupaideeha in Bahraich district. We have come to know that his name is Mohamad Masrur alias Manzoor Ansari who is son of Noor Muhammad. He is native of
154/4, Garden west, Adul Jabbar compound, near Nazeer Hotel, Karachi," Lal said.
