Muslims shun elaborate Eid celebrations following Mumbai attacksLucknow, Dec 6 : As a mark of protest against the Mumbai terror attacks, Muslims here have decided to tone down celebrations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Muslim organizations and bodies have urged the Muslims to observe Eid-ul-Azha that falls on December 9 this year.

Denouncing the Mumbai attacks, the Muslim clerics have asked people to take part in sermons ahead of the festive prayer offerings.

UP on alert for Babri mosque demolition anniversaryLucknow, Dec 6 : An alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh on the 16th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri mosque.

Special security has been provided at all the railway stations, bus stations, markets and other crowded places.

The government has issued instructions to all districts of the State for stepping up their security measures and intensifying police patrolling.

The demolition of the 16th century mosque in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992, had triggered nationwide communal frenzy that took a heavy toll of human lives.

Pakistani students pay homage to Mumbai terror victims

Perturbed with the souring relations between India and Pakistan, the students condemned the attacks and said that Indians and Pakistanis should fight terrorism together.

The city is famous for its ‘Taj Mahal’, a monument built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in commemoration of for his wife Mumtaz. It draws maximum tourist footfalls and it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

The Taj Mahal is thronged by the national and the international tourists round the year.

Cautious after the atrocious attacks that killed more than 150 people, the security forces in the city have deployed special teams to keep a close vigil and have also strengthened the barricades near the monument.

The exiles said that it was yet another peaceful effort to draw attention to the Tibetan cause.

Hundreds of Tibetans, who have been selling woolens in the city for the last 40 years said that during winters a large number of locals come to buy the woolen clothes from them and it is the best way to tell the world about their struggle for Tibet''s freedom.

While giving this information at a press conference, SP Goyal, Project Director said, "It has been seen that despite all the awareness, people still hesitate in asking for condoms from the medical stores. The result is that they take the risk, which is not good. Condom vending machine would be a good zero-embarrassment option.”
