Having only just recovered from one scandal, the sport is being embroiled by another and the actual sporting aspect of Grand Prix racing is being pushed into the shadows.

Currently the so-called Singapore-Scandal involving the Renault team and their former driver Nelson Piquet Jr, who was earlier this year dismissed by the team, is grabbing all the headlines.

Regardless of how the FIA World Motor Sport Council on September 21 in Paris decide, the damage has been done.

Sutil brings Force India on front row for second consecutive raceMonza (Italy), Sep 12 : The Formula One Racing team Force India on Saturday continued with its success in F1, as its driver Adrian Sutil managed second place in the qualifying session for Sunday''s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Sutil’s success put Force India on the front row for the second straight race. He was 0.195 seconds behind World champion Lewis Hamilton, who took the pole position after lapping the 5.793-km circuit in a time of one minute 24.066 seconds.


Piquet Jr "asked to crash" by Renault in cheating probe claim

Nelson-Piquet-JrMonza, Italy - Nelson Piquet Jr has told Formula One investigators he was asked to crash by his Renault team at last year's Singapore Grand Prix, according to a British press report Thursday.

The team has been summoned to appear in front of an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council of the sport's controlling body FIA on September 21.

Allegations have been made that Piquet deliberately crashed during the race to force a safety car phase, which in turn would benefit Fernando Alonso.

The Spaniard, who had come into the pits for a fuel stop unusually early in the race, went on to win.

Force India test driver Liuzzi replaces FisichellaMonza (Italy), Sep 7 : Formula One Racing team Force India, which is backed by liquor baron Vijay Mallya, has confirmed that their Italian test and reserve driver Vitantonio Liuzzi has replaced Giancarlo Fisichella for the remainder of the season.

Liuzzi has been the test and reserve driver with the team since the start of 2008 and will make his race debut in front of his home crowd during this weekend''s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
