McCullum backs location change for IPL

Brendon-McCullumWellington, Mar 23 : New Zealand vice-captain Brendon McCullum has backed the decision to shift the Indian Premier League from India due to a clash of schedules with general elections.

McCullum is one of eight New Zealand players contracted to the lucrative Twenty20 competition; last night learned the tournament would be moved to South Africa or England.

The 59-match tournament, scheduled for April 10 to May 24, clashed with the Indian general election campaign between April 16 and May 13.

New Zealand backs down on copyright lawWellington - The New Zealand cabinet on Monday abandoned a controversial new copyright law, which was widely condemned overseas, and decided to go back to the drawing board.

Prime Minister John Key told reporters that the law, designed to counter illegal downloading of films and music on the internet, was unworkable in its present form.

It was originally to have come into effect on February 27 but the government postponed it for a month to allow representatives of New Zealand's recording industry and internet service providers to negotiate a compromise agreement.

She completed the crossing from north to south on Friday in 9 hours and 23 minutes, Radio New Zealand reported.

Ryder''s 102 was his fourth successive 50-plus score in tests and came just 10 days after he posted his maiden one-day hundred in Christchurch.

Former Indian international Ravi Shastri marvelled at the way Ryder was able to adapt to his game to the match situation.

"I see him getting many more hundreds, but at the end of it all, he might just rate this as one of his best," Shastri said.
