Two wounded as Israel rockets car in Gaza Strip Gaza - An Israeli aircraft rocketed a car driving in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah Monday morning, injuring two people, witnesses and medical officials said.

The strike comes after Israeli aircraft launched overnight attacks on the Gaza Strip, primarily along the border separating the salient from the Sinai peninsula in an attempt to target tunnels used for smuggling weapons.

An evacuated police station in the central Strip, belonging to the Hamas movement, was also hit twice, with severe damage reported.

Abbas: Palestinians working to sustain ceasefire with Israel

Mahmoud AbbasRamallah - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Friday that he was working on sustaining the ceasefire Israel and the Palestinian factions have agreed on two weeks ago in the Gaza Strip.

He said in a news conference in Ramallah with the visiting Slovenian President Danilo Turk that "the first thing we want to do is to sustain the ceasefire."
