BSP to contest all LS seats in Gujarat

gujrat-mapVadodara, Mar 3 : Encouraged with the increased vote percentage during last year's assembly polls, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has decided to contest all 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat.

BSP's state general secretary, Nalin Bhatt said that the party wanted to expand the base of the party in the state.

BSP, he said will not have an alliance with any other political party.

"The question of alliance with any other political party or supporting the candidate of the Third Front in the state does not arise as the party has decided to contest all seats in the state," Bhatt said.


Rahul Gandhi urges Vadodra youth to join Congress

Rahul Gandhi Vadodra, Feb 13 : All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi met youths applying for membership of the Youth Congress on Friday.

He also visited the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU).

The youths expressed their keenness to apply for membership of the Youth Congress.

"We have come here to fill up the membership forms of Youth Congress. Rahul said that if more youths came forward to join the Youth Congress then only will the party become strong and that our country needed young leaders," said Sudha Patel, an applicant.

Major fire damages Gujarat plastic factoryVadodara (Gujarat), Jan 23 : A synthetic plastic factory in Vadodara, Gujarat was destroyed on Thursday.

The fire, which started at around 1 p. m. at climate synthetic Private Limited soon spread, and some workers were injured.

Around 15- 20 fire engines and 100 fire fighters were used to douse the flames out completely.

Goods and raw material worth million of rupees was estimated to have been destroyed in the fire.

Investigations are on to determine the cause of the fire. (ANI)

1 killed and 8 injured in communal clashes in VadodraVadodara, Sept 15 : At least one person was killed and eight others injured in Vadodara when one group started pelting stones on the other on Monday.

Prohibitory orders banning assembly of more than five people were clamped by police in the city after the communal tussle between two groups.

The festive aura of the immersion of lord Ganesh at the end of the ten-day festival turned sour when people of reportedly belonging to Muslim community allegedly tried to create hindrance in the immersion procession by pelting stones.

Police arrest 5 in suspicious condition at Vadodara airportVadodara, May 28 : Police have arrested five people in suspicious condition at Vadodara airport in Gujarat on Wednesday.

The arrests were made when the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel found that few men were loitering suspiciously around the parking area of the airport with their bicycles.

On the behest of the CISF the local police immediately took them into custody

According to police officials the verification of their address is being carried out.


Jyoti secures order worth Rs 27.24 crore from Araavali Power

Vadodara-based Jyoti Limited has bagged a prestigious turnkey order worth Rs 27.24 crore from Aravali Power Co. Pvt. Ltd. for design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of cooling water system and make up water system for Indira Gandhi super thermal power plant - Jhajjar (3x500 MW).

Aravali Power is a joint venture between NTPC, HPGCL and IPGCL. The project is expected to be completed within 30 months from the date of award.

Jyoti, Ltd. engages in manufacturing and marketing electrical and hydraulic engineering equipment in India and internationally. The company has tied up with Hyosung Ebara Co of Korea for design of cooling water pumps.


Sun TV To Launch 'FM Station' In Nasik & Vadodara Under ‘SFM’

India’s second largest TV network Sun TV Network is all set to launch its FMSun TV To Launch FM Stations At Nasik & Vadodara Radio Stations at Nasik and Vadodara, under the brand name ‘SFM’ from April 17, 2008.

The company will launch the new FM stations through its subsidiary ‘South Asia FM Ltd’. The new launchings will boost up the total number of Sun’s radio stations to 32 across the country.

Heard at 93.5 MHz frequency in Nasik and Vadodara, the new FM Radio Stations will cater to the audience of all age groups.

Bus accident death toll reaches 47Vadodara, Apr 16: The death toll in the bus accident that took place at Bodeli village, about 50 kilometers from here this morning reached 47.

According to official sources, the bodies of three adults and 44 kids have been recovered, some more children are still missing.

“Forty four bodies have been recovered so far. The driver and the conductor of the bus could not be saved. Four kids have been rescued so far. It’s a very unfortunate incident,” said N. V Patel, Chairman, Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam.


Bus with 50 school kids falls into Narmada canal

Vadodara, Apr 16: A bus carrying at least 50 school children fell into the Narmada canal in Bodeli, nearly 50 km from here, this morning.

The Gujarat Transport Corporation bus was ferrying the school kids on a study tour. The driver lost control when it was moving on a bridge over the canal, as a result of which the bus dashed into the parapet wall of the bridge and plunged into the canal.

According to the latest reports, 13 bodies, including that of the driver, were been recovered so far.

Few students, who swam to safe, informed the nearby villagers about the accident.

Rescue operations with twenty divers have already begun, official sources said. (ANI)


Rahul Gandhi to kick-off another road show in Gujarat

Vadodra, Dec 14: Congress MP Rahul GandhiCongress MP from Amethi, Rahul Gandhi, will kick-off his second leg of road show for the second phase of Gujarat Assembly elections here today.

Rahul will conduct a road show in Vadodara as the campaigning will come to an end today.

During his road show, Rahul will address three public meetings in three assembly constituencies.

Earlier, Rahul had a road show in Surat where he urged the voters not to get carried away by "lies of the BJP Government in the State" and said that he has come to talk about future and not the past.

Vadodara, Dec 11: Prime Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said that the decision by the BJP to name its former president L K Advani as the party’s Prime Ministerial candidate just ahead of Gujarat polls was taken as the party is increasingly nervous of the polls in the State.

Just hours before Gujarat went to polls, the BJP on Monday evening announced Advani as its Prime Ministerial candidate for the next Lok Sabha elections.

The present election campaign by the BJP in Gujarat has been completely overshadowed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, as few central BJP leaders have taken a tour of the State for the poll campaigning.

Adam Gilchrist, who pocketed six catches and played a leading role in effecting Saurav Ganguly's run out at the start of the Indian innings, got into some form with an unbeaten 79 from 77 deliveries. He was ably assisted by captain Ricky Ponting, who scored an unbeaten 39 to take the Aussies hope to their victory target of 149. For the record, India scored a paltry and disappointing 148.
