Regular mobile phone use may cause buzz in ears

Regular mobile phone use may cause buzz in earsA recent study has found that people using a mobile phone daily for more than four years have twice as much the chance of being affected by tinnitus.

Tinnitus is a condition of the ears where a constant ringing or buzzing noise is heard.

It has been found that usage of mobile phones for an aggregate of 10 minutes per day creates 70 per cent more chances to develop tinnitus. Also, people who use both their ears on phone calls in addition to using it for four years have their chances of developing tinnitus doubled.

The chief factors which lead to the disorder are trauma, exposure to loud noise, or even mental or physical alterations like depression, redundancy and illness, etc. The number of patients suffering from tinnitus is increasing.

Mobile phones contribute to the disorder through the microwave energy they produce. A study conducted by Hans-Peter Hutter, Institute of Environmental Health, University of Vienna, in Austria showed results with reasons to believe that it is the high intensity and long duration of the usage of mobile phones which may lead to tinnitus.
