London - Amy Winehouse, the troubled British Grammy-winning singer, has been admitted to hospital on the Caribbean island of St Lucia, according to media reports Sunday.
A spokesman for the 25-year-old said she was being treated for dehydrated. "Amy fainted after being out in the sun and without drinking water," he told The Sun newspaper.
According to the Sun, the singer with a history of substance abuse has been staying on the island to escape the London drug and alcohol scene. She was, however, seen drinking heavily at a local bar.
The Daily Mirror reported that Winehouse's planned performance at the St Lucia jazz festival would go ahead. The singer, whose hits include the single Rehab, won five Grammy Awards in 2008. (dpa)
