Los Angeles  - Pop superstar Rihanna on Tuesday released her first single since she was beaten in February by former boyfriend Chris Brown.

The haunting, mid-tempo tune Russian Roulette was composed in conjunction with Ne Yo and marks the first track from Rihanna's upcoming album, which is due to be released on November 23.

The song appears to describe what is going through someone's mind in the moment before they pull the trigger in a game of Russian roulette and ends with the sound of a bullet being fired. The art accompanying the track shows the pop star wearing a see-through eyepatch and wrapped in barbed wire. (dpa)
