Rodrigues hails IT Park Development

ChandigarhChandigarh’s Administrator and Punjab Governor, Gen (retd) SF Rodrigues said that the UT administration will leave no stone unturned to develop the City Beautiful as an IT hub. Haling the initiative to develop Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCTP) in the city, Mr. Rodrigues said that the venture will increase employment activities, providing over 30,000 jobs by 2010.

Mr. Rodrigues was speaking at the inauguration of the e-revolution 2009 conclave organized by UT administration, Punjab and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). Expressing his views on the theme “Transforming Region: Harnessing Technology for Inclusive Growth”, the UT administrator called for development of efficient infrastructure, efficient administration, e-governance programs, metro rail, education city and modern terminal markets, in order to attract IT companies in the region.

Rodrigues said that infrastructure development in the IT Park is one of the top priorities of the UT administration. He further added, "We are setting up an Entrepreneur Development Centre which would be functional in the next three weeks and the IT Sector will further get a major fillip providing an opportunity to young professionals to nurture their skills."
