Rumors afloat, Google Earth used to trace mythical city of Atlantis

Rumors afloat, Google Earth used to trace mythical city of AtlantisA legend defines the mythical city of Atlantis as an island in the Atlantic Ocean that Plato said was swallowed by an earthquake, confirms Princeton.

However, this weekend the Internet was overflowed with rumors that the enchanted city had been traced with the help of the updated version of the satellite mapping software Google Earth.

A strange 'street grid' pattern underwater about 600 miles off the west coast of Africa, and the size of Wales were traced by a British aeronautical engineer fiddling with the updated 5.0 software.

"It's true that many amazing discoveries have been made in Google Earth, including a pristine forest in Mozambique that is home to previously unknown species and the remains of an ancient Roman villa... In this case, however, what users are seeing is an artifact of the data collection process," reported Google, though denying the rumors at the same time.

It was also recently reported that 16 people were arrested after a marijuana field was spotted in Switzerland using the mapping software. Furthermore, 1.2 tons of marijuana with a street value of $2.5 million USD was also seized along with the arrested recently.
