Sahara wins Team India sponsorshipSahara Group has managed to out bid telecom giants Bharti Airtel and Reliance to retain the Team India jersey. Once again it has bag the Team India sponsorship. Sahara Group will remain as the main sponsor of the team till
31st December 2013. Per match, it has to pay Rs 3.34 crore to BCCI.

However, the Board had fixed Rs 2.25 crore as the base price per match. The bid was for the all three formats for the game i. e. test matches, ODIs and Twenty20s. This has been informed by the marketing committee of BCCI. Last month BCCI has invited bids for team sponsorship for four Indian squads.

As per sources Anil Ambani's ADAG group, Hero Honda, Bharti Airtel were among the main competitors in this deal. But at last it was Sahara Group that managed to end up successfully. Sahara has been the main supporter and sponsor of the Indian cricket team for several years. Two months, back it had also bid successfully for the new Pune IPL franchise. It had bought the Pune team by Rs 1,700 crore.
