Samsung to take on rivals with Galaxy Tab 10.1South Korean electronics giant, Samsung is aiming to compete in the competitive tablet market with its new offering, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 powered by Google’s Android platform.

The bright 1280 x 800-pixel LCD display of the tablet is vibrant and dispays amazing quality pictures and videos. Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs Android 3.1, the updated version of Honeycomb that was released by Google last month.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is only 8.6 mm thick and weighs about 1.25 lb., making it 6% lighter than the iPad 2. The tablet, which is the showpiece forGoogle's Android Honeycomb tablet platform, features a sleek silver metallic trim around the 10.1-inch screen. This trim also extends on Tab's back and covers the read camera too.

The tablet is powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor and has 1GB of RAM.

It offers easy and fast web browsing and features separately downloaded Adobe Flash Player. As for its battery life, the tablet runs for an impressive nine hours with continuous video playback indicating that with normal usage the tablet could run for days without needing a charge.
