Sarah Brightman Starts Training to Perform In Space

Opera singer Sarah Brightman recently revealed that she is nowadays undergoing through 16 hours of training a day. She said that this training is part of her mission to perform in space.

An English classical crossover soprano is enduring the gruelling regime, which includes four hours a day of Russian lessons, at Star City, which is the top space training facility in Moscow Oblast.

Brightman told The Sunday Times that the whole thing is very much like conducting an orchestra or performing a show. It might seem strange analogy to others but it's the only analogy she has.

She explaining about her analogy said that if one is conducting an orchestra then one can’t just understand a bit of it. One has to understand the whole thing from A-Z.

Brightman, who is tested once a week by Star City's top brass in a verbal exam, said, “It terrifies me. I haven't been tested on things since I was a schoolgirl. To be in front of group of people explaining what happens on Soyuz control panel or explain life support system alarms - it's pretty scary”.

The Cats and Phantom of the Opera star said that Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield has also emailed her some tips on singing in space.

It was told that Hadfield gained popularity in 2013 after she performed David Bowie's Space Oddity from the International Space Station. She said her training as a dancer and singer left her well prepared for the physical challenges of living in space.

She told the paper that people in Britain might not be aware of what she has been doing for the last 20 years, but she always had a full-on career all over the world. Brightman is expected to take part in a tourist flight to the International Space Station later this year.
