This drug prevents cold-causing HRV from breaking into the body's cells and causing infection. It also stops any infection from spreading in a double-pronged attack.

Peter Cook of Victoria-based Biota Holdings, developer of the drug said, “It's a significant milestone in the development of what could be a world-first antiviral treatment for HRV (human human rhinoviruses) in high-risk patients."

Researchers claim that this drug can kill majority of common cold virus within a few hours. Researchers affirm that this drug will be available within five years after the completion of the human trails.
