Scotland’s economic recovery still fragile, SCCThe Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) has claimed that the Scottish economy is growing but the recovery still remains fragile.

Latest figures have showed that the Scottish economy grew at 0.6 per cent during the second quarter of the year. The SCC said that the business confidence is highest ever in all sectors of the economy and pointed out that the optimism in the tourism industry is growing at its fastest rate in about 7 years.

The latest Business Survey also showed that the recovery remains vulnerable to external shocks. Manufacturers and retailers have said that the profits are expected to rise during the first half of the next year. However, the SCC said that it is not certain that the recovery is sustainable in Scotland.

According to the figures released by the Scottish government, Scotland's economy grew by 0.6 per cent between April and June this year. The data also showed that the employment rose to its highest level in five years as employment rose in all main sectors in the third quarter of 2013.

Manwhile, the Bank of Scotland PMI survey showed that output and new business in September remained at its highest level. The report pointed out that private sector economy is continuing to grow in the country and is recording a gaining momentum.
