Sensex closes 17 points down on Friday The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex has ended up with a decline of 17 points. As per the market experts, the hike in food inflation has pulled the index down.

Food inflation will create more pressure on RBI to go for a further rate hike. Sensex ended its final session down by 16.88 points and closed at 18,221.43 points. There has been a decline of 0.09 after today’s trading. So far as the week is concerned, Sensex has recorded a gain of 1.23% after the Friday trading.

Nifty Index of the National Stock Exchange has also gone down with 0.12% at the close of the day. Nifty was recorded at 5,479.40 points at the end of final session.

Nifty is struggling to sustain above the point of 5,500. Food inflation has now become a worry for the policy makers.

RBI is now anticipated to hike the repo rate by 25 basis points. This has been informed by the market analysts. It will be decided on the RBI’s meeting on 16th of September.
