Sensex Gains 251 Pts On Asian Cues The 30-share index Sensex rebounded today and was trading 251 points up as against its last closure on prospects of strong results from India Inc and optimistic Asian signals.

The Sensex, which belled the day at 17,536.48, stood at 17,722.34, up 251.31 points (1.44%) as against its previous closure at 17,471.03.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broad-based Nifty stood at 5,318.1, up 1.47% as compared to its last closure at 5,241.1.

Broader markets indices were also trading in the positive terrain, with the BSE midcap index trading 1.15% up and the BSE smallcap index 1.21% higher.

The overall breadth of stock market remained positive owing to heavy buying action witnessed in broader markets, with 2,042 scrips progressing as against 714 stocks falling.

Other major Asian bourses were also going up, rising together with the gains witnessed in the US. Key US market indices gained in Wednesday's trade over optimism of a good results season.

The Japanese Nikkei was trading 2.76% up at 9,535.74, whereas the South Korean Kospi closed 1.37% up at 1,698.64.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng was trading at 20,148.36, up 1.47%, while the Chinese Shanghai Composite index remained flat at 2,419.8.
