Six New Deaths Take India's Swine Flu Toll To 308With the death of six more people across the country, the H1N1 death toll rose to 308.  

The five deaths were reported from Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Punjab also reported its first swine flu death when a 12-year-old school girl died at a Chandigarh Hospital on Monday morning.

While confirming the news, Mr. H.C. Gera, nodal officer for swine flu, Chandigarh, stated: “Harshita was brought to Chandigarh Friday in a very serious condition and she was admitted to Chaitanya Hospital. When the hospital authorities informed us, she was already on ventilator support.”

In addition, one fatality that took place in Kerala has now been confirmed as a H1N1 case after receiving of the final reports of lab examinations.

The report also said that one casualty owing to suspected H1N1 virus had been reported from a private hospital in the National Capital, and the final results of the lab tests were awaited.

Apart from this, 178 fresh cases were reported from across the country (on Monday) taking the number of laboratory-confirmed cases people to 10,036.

Maharashtra, which tops the list of H1N1 deaths in India, also reported one death. The state has so far recorded 120 swine flu deaths.
