Sony’s new mascot – ‘Sackboy’
London, Sep 28 : Video games giant Sony is pushing ‘Sackboy’ as their defining mascot for the Noughties — and he’s British.
The Japanese computer giants, who are pumping millions into the character, reckon every kid in the world will want their own virtual one in the next few months.
Tiny firm Media Molecule, which operates with just 25 staff in Guildford, Surrey, created Sackboy.
“It’s fair to say that Nintendo has got Super Mario and Sega had Sonic. It’s about time Sony got their own iconic mascot — Sackboy will be that character,” The Sun quoted Sony PlayStation’s Jonathan Fargher, as saying.
“He’s a charming and personable character people will take to and the fact you can dress him up how you like will appeal. You’ll be able to make him a spaceman, pirate, cowboy, zombie — there’s even an Evel Knievel outfit for him,” he added.
Mario, one of the planet’s most recognisable figures, has made Sony rival Nintendo billions. (ANI)
