Spain and US define conditions of Guantanamo prisoner transferMadrid  - Spain and the United States are working together to define the judicial status and security conditions of inmates from the US prison camp in Guantanamo Bay who will be handed over to Spain, Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said Wednesday.

Rubalcaba spoke in Madrid after meeting US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, with whom he signed a cooperation agreement on airport security.

The two did not discuss the Guantanamo prisoners, though they had done so on previous occasions.

Spain is expected to take at least four detainees from the prison facility in Cuba, alongside several other European countries.

Rubalcaba stressed Spain's willingness to cooperate with the United States, and said talks were under way to guarantee a handover without problems.

Spain has said it will not accept detainees with criminal records.(dpa)
