Special bonanza for doctors working in rural areas
Here's a special bonanza for those doctors who want to serve the rural India.
In a significant move, the Union Health Ministry has announced that it will offer extra weightage in postgraduate entrance exams to those MBBS students who go for rural postings.
The government has decided to provide 10 to 30 per cent weightage in PG entrance to medical graduates depending on the years of service they offer in villages.
Speaking on this, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said: "Any MBBS student spending one year in a village will get 10 per cent weightage in PG entrance; those who stay for two years will get 20 per cent marks; those who stay beyond will get 30 per cent weightage."
Earlier, the government had made it clear that those doctors who will serve in the rural areas will be given double salaries.
Notably, nearly 22 states had already given their proposals to set up primary healthcare facilities in remote, inaccessible and hilly areas.
Recently, the government of Assam also declared that it will provide Rs 25,000 per month salary to the doctors posted in the rural areas.
