Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)
New Delhi, Feb 7 : The Centre today extended the ban on Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) for two years, saying, "the group continues to indulge in unlawful activities."
"The decision to re-impose the ban on SIMI for two years has been taken in view of the fact that the group continues to indulge in unlawful activities," a Home Ministry release said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Earlier, the ban was re-imposed for two years in 2006. It was imposed for the first time in September 2001. (ANI)
