Study shows alcohol kills more than drugs

Study shows alcohol kills more than drugsStudy done by British researchers has shown that alcohol is more dangerous for human body than illegal drugs like heroin and crack cocaine.

The research which was done by Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs (ISCD) was studying how harmful substances like alcohol, tobacco, heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis could be for human body.

It did its study after individually examining the impact of each of the drugs. It then gave its results for individuals as well as wider society.

The research also talked about the economic costs and rise in crime levels because of these drugs.

Each of the drugs was then ranked out of 100 and the ones that scored 100 were the most harmful ones. Various criterions were taken into consideration while checking the impact levels.

While heroin, crack cocaine and methamphetamine got 34, 37 and 32 respectively, it was alcohol that was closest to 100.

With respect to the whole issue, Vice-president of the Australian Medical Association, Dr Steve Hambleton said that the results were 'reasonable' and said that every individual should keep these things in mind.
