Supporters of NC, Cong clash at Ganderbal

Supporters of the National Conference and Congress clashed in north Kashmir’s Ganderbal district during Omar Abdullah’s road show there.

Police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the violent supporters of both the groups.

The incident was triggered when Omar arrived at Barsu village in Ganderbal, village where Congress Candidate Sheikh Ishfaq Ahmad was holding a public meeting.

As soon as Congress supporters came to know about the arrivals of Omar in the area, they moved towards his motorcade forcing the police to take action. But Omar had already left the area when the supporters fought pitched battles.

Omar had lost 2002 polls from this constituency.
