Swine Flu: Suspected cases in Assam test negative

Tarun GogoiAssam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday cleared that there is no danger of a swine flu epidemic in the state.

Gogoi said that all the three suspected cases of swine flu in the state have tested negative.

Speaking on this, Gogoi said: "There had been three suspected cases of swine flu, including an IIT-G student who had returned from Canada. But all of them were later diagnosed as H1N1 negative. There should not be any reason for panic. I myself have just come back from Pune."

The CM assured that all precautionary measures were being taken by the health authorities in the state.

He said that the state government will soon set up more isolation wards in addition to the one at the MMCH. The government will also train 100 doctors to deal with the swine flu in the state.

He added that there were adequate stocks of medicines to treat swine flu in the event of any detection or outbreak.

Gogoi have also asked his officials to come up with an awareness campaign through newspapers and TV channels on the symptoms of the disease and issue guidelines in this regard.
