The government is trying every thing to spread awareness about prevention and cure of swine flu. Simple hygiene practices can reduce the spread of the deadly virus. Despite the best efforts of the government, swine flu cases are multiplying.

Recently, with aim to spread awareness and information regarding swine flu, Tamil Nadu government has launched a website. The website, swineflutninfo.in, has the information on swine flu spread and prevention in Tamil and English. Information regarding epidemology, mode of transmission, case management and self care practices along with a list of laboratories, helplines, and a disease meter can also be found the website.

State health minister M R K Panneerselvam said, “The government has taken several measures to effectively control the spread of flu in the state.”

In an effort to reduce the burden on the government centres and increase swine flu testing centres, Tamil Nadu government has given approval to Lister Metropolis, a part of Metropolis Health Services, to start H1N1 testing for Swine Flu.

Special room with trained staff and necessary equipment has been created by Lister Metropolis to conduct H1N1 screenings. Other government norms mandatory to conduct swine flu testing has also been followed.
