Tata Teleservices to invest Rs 600 crore under expansion plan

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (TTML), one of the youngest and fastest growing telecom service providers in India, is gearing up for GSM-based telecom service and has recently received spectrum for three circles. Department of Telecommunication in March allowed TTML to introduce GSM-based telecom service in 20 circles. The company will invest Rs 600 crore this fiscal to set up new telecom towers and enhance network.

Presently, Eastern region has 1774 base transceiver stations (BTS) and the company plans to add another 713 BTS in this region, by this fiscal.

The information was revealed by Mr Sanjiv Sinha, Regional Head (East) and Chief Operating Officer, Kolkata Telecom Circle. The company also plans to foray into North east, Assam and Jammu and Kashmir by 15th August this year.

Recently, Tata Indicom has launched walky-talky in Kolkata for post paid customers. It will soon be introduced for the pre paid customers as well. Tata Indicom currently enjoys a market share of 14 per cent in Kolkata and operates in 18 circles.
