Sylvester Stallone to star in and helm ‘The Expendables’

Stallone SylvesterWashington, November 6 : Sylvester Stallone will now be seen starring and directing the action film ‘The Expendables’.

The 62-year-old legend, who has written the script, will team up with Jason Statham and Jet Li, who is in final negotiations, as a group of mercenaries in the movie for Nu Image/Millennium Films.

The story depicts the team on a mission to break into a South American country and overthrow its brutal dictator to set free the population, reports Variety.

Israel's Livni warns against opening dialogue with Iran

Iraq doesn’t see Obama abandoning it as still “a great deal is at stake”

“There won''t be quick disengagement here. A great deal is at stake,” the Daily Times quoted Zebari as telling a foreign news agency.

He said that Baghdad would respect the will of the American voters and that it was looking for a successful partnership with Obama.

CNN’s Christiane Amanpour may soon get her own show

Christiane AmanpourNew York, November 6: CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour may soon be getting her own show, according to sources.

"She's getting her own hour. She was furious after CNN gave (Newsweek correspondent) Fareed Zakaria his own show on Sunday - especially since it''s all about international affairs which is her specialty," the New York Post quoted an insider as saying.

The source further revealed that bosses at CNN eventually bowed to Amanpour's wrath, and that they are now ready to announce her program.

Targeted therapy may halt breast cancer spread

Breast Cancer RiskWashington, Nov 6 : In a new study, scientists have found that a therapy targeting a protein, called cyclin D1, may block the expansion of breast cancer stem cells.

The study shows how stem cell expansion in breast cancer (called Notch activity) takes place.

Breast cancer stem cells are known to be involved in therapy resistance and the recurrence of cancerous tumours.

Headed by Dr. Richard Pestell and colleagues at Thomas Jefferson University, the study was the first to show that cyclin d1 is required for breast cancer growth in mice.
