London, Sept 2 : The new Samsung i8510 promises to give competition to most of the compact digital cameras, say experts.

With an eight-megapixel image sensor producing images of identical quality to most digital compact cameras, the new Samsung phone could be regarded as a milestone in camera phones.

Equipped with a flash, the i8510 can also detect when people in the picture are smiling.

The new stress-related disorder is said to affect users who have become so entirely dependent on the web they suffer withdrawal symptoms.

It is defined as a ‘feeling of distress or anxiety when unable to gain immediate information access’.

A poll of 2,100 people found 76 percent of Britons admitted that they could not live without the Internet.

Washington, September 2 : Astronomers and engineers have said that the single-piece primary and tertiary mirror blank cast for the LSST (Large Synoptic Survey Telescope) by a giant furnace, is “perfect”.

The LSST, a large survey telescope being built in northern Chile, requires three large mirrors to give crisp images over a record large field of view.

The two largest of these mirrors are concentric and fit neatly onto a single mirror blank.

The single-piece primary and tertiary mirror blank emerged from the oven of a giant furnace at the University of Arizona’s Steward Observatory Mirror Lab in Tucson, Arizona, where team members gathered to celebrate this major milestone.

London, September 2 : A technique used in many NASA Mars rovers could be used to protect helicopters in emergency landings, by placing airbags on the underside of the choppers.

Several of NASA Mars rovers have successfully landed on Mars, protected from impact with the ground by sophisticated airbags.

Now, according to a report in New Scientist, the helicopter manufacturer Bell Helicopter based in Fort Worth, Texas, believes the same technique could be used to protect helicopters in emergency landings.

The bags would be fitted to the underside of a helicopter and deployed only when the vehicle is about to hit the ground at too high a velocity.

Washington, Sep 2 : Just two days ahead of the second meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) in Vienna, a US-based Arms Control Association has asked the 45-member Nuclear Supplier Group (NSG) to reject the revised draft, which exempts India from its certain guidelines for nuclear trade, as it does not contain any meaningful adjustments.

Daryl Kimball, Executive Director of the organization, said: “The revised proposal does not incorporate any meaningful adjustments or concessions and is essentially the same as the earlier draft proposal."
