Third death due to dengue in Mysore

Third death due to dengue in MysoreWithin a fortnight, dengue has taken third life in Mysore. Twenty-year-old Prathibha died on Friday morning. She was tested positive for dengue.

She was a resident of EWS Colony on New Kantharaja Urs road. Earlier 13-year-old Sowmya of Udayagiri and Neelu (14) from VV Mohalla had lost their lives due to dengue.

Prathibha lost her consciousness a day before she died. She died due to multiple organ failure. She had brain edema, a viral infection.

District Malaria Officer Dr. HS Manjunath said that she was tested positive for dengue. Prathibha, who was treated at Kamakshi Hospital since August 29, was shifted to Apollo Hospital on September 2 after her condition started deteriorating.

The death has again questioned the efforts of civic body in fighting dengue. Authorities claim that they have started senitisation programmes in all wards of the city.
