Three strikes and off you go from Internet, Eircom
Implying the three-strike rule an Irish company Eircom has become the first ISP to execute this practice.
This means that if one is supposedly caught downloading illegal files, he will warned several times, before disconnecting from the net by the ISP.
It actually is a different situation in Ireland where the only condition comes in the form of warning, which if happens thrice, then that is it. The accused will be banned from Internet, with no actual proof needed.
This rule is slightly bent down upon as the first two strikes will call for a warning, and the third will seek a short ban of seven days. If the accused to continue his inappropriate work, it will invite a fourth strike where he will be disconnected from the Internet for an entire year.
This step which is till at its testing phase witnesses close to 50 IP addresses a week and supposedly been taken due to legal threats from the Irish Recorded Music Association.
Director General of IRMA, Dick Doyle, stated that if people encourage the usage of more legitimate networks to get their music we don't have to take such harsh steps at the same time will save people from getting under the scanner.
