Tokyo  - Tokyo stocks ended morning trading modestly higher Thursday as investors were cautious ahead of the release of corporate earnings reports.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average advanced 12.81 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 9,735.97.

The broader-based Topix index was also up 0.88 points, or 0.1 per cent, at 907.46.

On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 93.55-60 yen, up from Wednesday's 5 pm quote of 93.50-55 yen.

The euro was quoted at 1.4200-05 dollars, up from late Wednesday's quote of 1.4197-4202 dollars, and at 132.90-95 yen, up from 132.80-85 yen. (dpa)
