Tribal Sports Festival at Solan taps tribal players mettleSolan (Himachal Pradesh), Jan 1 : A five days sports meet was organised by the All India Tribal Welfare Council solely for tribal communities members at Solan here between December
27 and 31.

The center of this meet was to tap the talent of sports among the tribals and encourage them to participate in other competitive meets.

Around 386 participants from 26 states participated in this event.

A majority of the participants were boys and girls who displayed unparalleled enthusiasm in games like kho-kho and archery in which the tribals have carved out a mark at the national as well as international levels.

"This India Tribal Welfare Council organises a Sport Festival with a motto to trace out the talent among these tribals and bring them ahead for better exposure in life," said Shakti, an office bearer of All India Tribal Welfare Council.

This year''s event happened to be the 14th edition, held once in every four years, similar to the Olympiads, Asiads and the Commonwealth Games.

On their part, the young tribal participants wished that this sports meet becomes an annual event, so that it benefits the athletes in different disciplines.

"Through these games, the hidden talents are tapped as I believe they all should be given a chance to prove their potential. This meet of tribal sports is wonderful as we get to experience the sports at a competitive level," said Mohinder, a participant from Jharkhand. (ANI)
