Two Die Of Cholera In Orissa; Toll Rises To 37According to health representatives, cholera and other water-linked illnesses have taken lives of two more people in the state of Orissa.

The new cases have been reported from the state's Rayagada region on Saturday, which increased the death toll to 37 since August this year.

Health department's Deputy Director Bikash Patnaik stated, "Two more deaths were reported Saturday. The toll in the district has gone up to 37."

As per reports, a 35-year-old woman from Orissa's Bissamcuttack region passed away on Sep 10, and a 65-year-old old man from the region of Kashipur area lost life on Sep 11.

Mr. Patnaik added that 36 novel cases of water-linked illnesses have been reported from Bissamcuttack, Kalyanpur and Kashipur areas of the district.

The illness has increased its wings to 7 more villages, which comprise 5 in Bissamcuttack and 2 in Kashipur region.

With this, the overall number of villages affected in the region has come up to 86 since August 2010.

The region, some 390 km from Bhubaneswar, is among the India's most underdeveloped parts and is frequently in news for deaths due to malnourishment.
