About 1000 Bharatiya Jan Shakti party workers resigned protesting the behavior of Party Chief Uma Bharati.

They tendered their resignation a day after Uma slapped a party worker.

Earlier BJS BJS Chhindwara district president Nemi Chand Verma left the party on Thursday along with several party members.

Uma has reportedly slapped district General Secretary of Chhindwara Anil Rai in full public and later kissed him on the forehead and gave up food to atone for her loss of control.

Both of them addressed a joint press conference claiming that they were like brother and sister and that she had the right to "love him or hit him".

But Rai resigned eventually.
