UN must ensure Pakistan fulfils its pledge on terror: Mukherjee

India PakistanNew Delhi, Feb. 6, : India on Friday said that the United Nations should ensure that Pakistan fulfills its commitment to end terrorism emanating from its soil.

Addressing the media on the margins of a conference organised by the Research and Information System, Mukherjee said that he had conveyed this view to visiting UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon during a one-to-one meeting.

Mukherjee blamed Pakistan for the Mumbai terror attack, and said, it is using terrorism as a state element.

He said the UN Secretary General has been given enough evidence linking Pakistani nationals to the attack that took place last year.

He said that he has also requested the UN Secretary General to ensure that Pakistan will fully implement its own commitments which it has given to India and the international community several times.

India has already handed over a dossier in this regard to Pakistan and expects Islamabad to act against the perpetrators. An official reply from Pakistan is still awaited.

Mukherjee said that he had also discussed issues like the violence in Afghanistan and the situation in Myanmar with the UN chief. (ANI)
