US computer maker Dell reports shrinking profitsNew York  - Dell, the world's second-largest computer maker, delivered results for the latest quarter that showed it was suffering the same downturn that has struck the entire global PC industry.

The Texas-based company's profit was down 63 per cent to 290 million dollars in the quarter that ended May 1. Special charges weighed heavily in the results.

Revenue fell 23 per cent to 12.3 billion dollars.

Company chief Michael Dell cautioned that the outlook for global PC demand remains mixed.
