Vaas will retire from test cricket: de Mel
Sri Lanka's chief selector, Ashantha de Mel has confirmed that the left arm fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has decided to quit from the Test cricket, which will end his 15-year test carrier.
De Mel said that Vaas has announced that he will not play in the Test cricket anymore, but he will continue to play in the shorter formats of the cricket.
Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara had earlier suggested Vaas to give up at least one form of the game and he said that there has been no doubt on the quality of Vaas and Vaas could still play important role in their team
He further added that he had suggested Vaas to quit at least on one form of cricket keeping in view his fitness and age so that he could extend his carrier.
Vaas has been one of greatest bowler of all time who has taken 354 wickets in 110 Tests.
