Vector-borne diseases during monsoon

Vector-borne diseases during monsoonPre monsoon showers are welcomed by masses in India as they give a relaxation from the sizzling temperature through out the country. But the cases of diarrhea and malaria have reached up to 10 - 12% in southern India, soon after the monsoon arrived.

The health experts are predicting an eruption of vector-borne diseases with the arrival of monsoon this year. Last year also monsoon had caused dengue and other viral fever epidemic incidences which took several lives. Doctors have said that this cool climate contributes to the survival of the ultramicroscopic infectious agents in the environment which cause malaria, chikungunya, dengue and viral fevers. These diseases are predicted to come out in the second month of monsoon.

The doctors have also said that malaria cases have already been issued and the diseases like typhoid, gastroenteritis, cholera and even hepatitis are apprehended to start in the first month of this season. The cities are developing haphazardly thereby causing lack of sewage facilities and adequate drainage system; due to unhygienic and poor sanitation conditions the diseases are striking. The residents are drinking contaminated water due to leakages in the drinking water lines. The director of Directorate of Health has said that if these things will be considered seriously then the water borne diseases can be controlled.
